Phoenix International Raceway
Phoenix International Raceway, also known as PIR, is a one-mile, low-banked tri-oval race track located in Avondale, Arizona. The motorsport track opened in 1964 as an open-wheel racing venue that hosted legends such as A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti and Rick Mears. Since 1988, PIR has been home to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and traditionally hosts NASCAR race weekends in March and on Veterans Day Weekend in November. PIR is the only facility in the West to host two NASCAR events every year. The raceway is currently owned and operated by International Speedway Corporation.
